International Calling Cards enable the sailors to call relatives back home and make sure everything is alright. It does great for morale to know things are good back home and that the sailor is missed. Sometimes the contact brings sad news like a death in the family or illness. Chaplains can hold services for these sailors and crew and the feeling of support is often overwhelming to all these sailors to be able to find Christs love for them in our country so very far away from theirs. Alone with their other crew members and thoughts they have the ocean to remind them of the greatness of Christ's love for us all.
The calling cards are purchased not in stores but at the port ministry. They are a great value and sailors can buy them in $5 and $10 denominations.
Game Room
The Game or Recreation room is an area within the ministry that sailors from a ship can visit and enjoy at no cost to them. This game room is located on port property and is a safe place to relax away from the confines of the ship and other port activity. Sailors like to leave behind a flag from their country if they don't already see one. A visiting sailor requires a Visa even to disembark the ship... without a Visa he must remain aboard.
